..here you go - the cortina was affectionately known as 'the beast", so this combo became 'the beast with two backs'.
got quite a few odd looks driving through St Albans with that strapped to the roof. handling was atrocious. the cortina rolled like a boat anyway, and with the shell on the roof it felt like it was going turn turtle every time you changed direction (..roundabouts were particularly traumatic..).
didn't help that no-one else would get in the car with me for the drive over - they preferred the option of a 'chase' car (..i suspect for reasons of deniability..). Didn't help my nerves that everytime i checked my mirrors, my so called 'support' team were ***** themselves laughing
Ive not seen a Cortina since I was a kid!
Why is it back in the day, all Cortinas had an off colour wing Onslow style!?
