Fuel Tank Pickup

Best Answer andyapanel , 06 February 2018 - 12:49 PM

Annoyingly, there is not quite enough room to undo the screws; It needs to be dropped My new tank started weeping after only a year.

I guess you are putting a new sender unit on. I would advise replacing the gasket if there is not one in the kit.

Good luck, it should not take long.

Hi

I think my fuel sender has a broken swimmer.

can i remove the sensor with the tank installed? or is it necessary to remove the full tank?

of course it is clear i have to empty the fueltank before removing the sensor.

You need to remove the tank to get to the sender unit, from experience I'd strip what you have first then see if you need a new tank too

Once the fuel tank is empty its only one bolt to take it out anyway.
No need to take it out of the boot, just lay it on its side.

It is a Pickup, no boot and i hope much more than one screw to hold the tank. :-)

ok just to inform you. changing the sender is quite easy.

1. remove all the fuel

2. remove the fuel line conection (there is one screw on the backside of the tank)

3. unclip the wires from the sender (should be just one wire)

3. remove the fuelcap

3. than there are 6 screws holding the tank

4. after you removed the tank you have access to the small screws holding the senderunit.

install new seal and new sender and install the tank again.

my sender was completly rusti and made no movements...
