silent coat in mine with some closed cell foam over the top (doesn't absorb water). Doing the same in the pickup. Seems to have dampened down the bangs and clatters

After the comments regarding Silent Coat I think I will opt for this option. Can you remember how many sheets/boxes that you needed to purchase?

thanks

I used a box for the floor, a couple on the roof, doors, back seats. Was plenty.

The thing about using carpet underlay is you can easily remove it if you want to know what's going on underneath. My car doesn't leak but every now and then I lift it up to have a peek anyway....

Silent coat is the best (if not better) dynamat alternative.

Though what do you want to achieve? Dynamat type products are to stop panel resonance, they are not used to block out sound.
To block sound out you need a closed cell foam, like luxury liner pro...

I used nearly a one of these boxes on mine. 8 or 10 sheets on the roof, on the parcel shelf, rear seat, 1/4 panels, doors, engine bay bulkhead internal, flitches and floors.

Can you put the closed cell foam stuff inside doors?

I know its not supposed to hold moisture, but is that true? There must be a lot of water that runs through the inside of the doors.

Also does it interfere with the window runners?

It is worth re-mentioning that the likes of silent coat, dynamat and generic black anti drum pads do not need to cover every square inch of panel work inside the car.

Their purpose is to stop drum and resonance so you only need a fairly small sheet on each quarter of the floor pan, one on the inside of each quarter panel and inside each door skin and then 2-3 on the inside of the roof.

Any more is just a waste of time and money as many of the inside surfaces of the panels are rigid especially inner sills, the toe board and bulkhead

You can, and it does make a difference, it's just a nightmare to get in and stick!
