Sorry to bother you good folk with a dumb question. The MPI doesn't have a cylinder block drain plug does it?? Just detach the bottom hose, set the heater to hot and let it go? Thanks for your patience.  :proud: David

There is no drain tap. You are correct, just remove the bottom hose.

This is also on my to-do list... only thing is, when I look through the access hole in the passenger wheel arch, someone has fitted the jubilee clip the 'wrong' way round. Are there any tips/ tricks you guys can offer or is it just a case of cutting it off?

Try and get a 7mm socket onto it with an extension.

One of my future modifications is to fit a drain adapter into the rad lower hose, it'll hopefully prevent coolant going everywhere!

I might even have one of those crap bendy socket extensions kicking around somewhere, I'll give it a go!

That sounds like a great plan! How minispares or equivalent not developed a bottom hose with this built in yet?!

Tell me about it. I'm just a couple of years behind you and I also had one as my first car at 17, they're still as much fun :proud:

Check to see if there's a fan sensor switch on the lower front corner of the radiator. If so, then pull the wire connections off and rotate the plastic arms and pull the sensor out. Water, water, everywhere.

Cheers. Mission accomplished, including a seized cylinder on the offside rear. MOT on Tuesday.

On the MPi there won't be.
