I have a recollection of reading something somewhere about a very early / pre production mini with its roof chopped off and used for some sort of motor sport . Possibly the car was in Ireland? Have i made this up or does anyone know if link to an article about it ??

I think the early Mini you heard about is now in a collection in Japan and was featured in MiniWorld magazine some years back.
Mr Maruyama (Mini Maruyama co) from Japan - Tartan Red 3rd April built Austin.
This car is the second Austin to be built.

It looked very much like that but the photos i saw were in black and white. I think was modified at home by someone early in the cars life.

That early car was modified by Healey - allegedly.
