god they know how to write words that are so open to interpretation they should be world champions at it.

lets take this

4.12 Reconstructed (restored) classic cars undergoing IVA will not be required to meet the latest MOT standards, as long as the appearance of the vehicle is broadly unchanged and the engine is of the same capacity as that supplied with the vehicle when it was new.

looks the same from the outside and the interior. engine size is still  a 998cc one. but it is from a Bike!

....but try and put in the A Series you salvaged by going to 1014cc's.

What happens if your "reconstructed classic" needs a rebore after you've got your IVA ticket?

Why does it even need an IVA if it really is over 40 years old anyway  :dontgetit:

Can't help but think it's more paddocks at Goodwood than parliament in Westminster writing this.

Its an odd rule isnt it? Personally I would just leave my 998 tag on the block and be non the wiser ;)

I think people are worrying for nothing.

this isn't going to affect the likes of your average Jo restoring a mini and getting it back on the road.

to be honest, the government (or whoever it is that makes these decisions) is pretty good to us classic car folks in some respects, if its old enough it is tax exempt, and MOT exempt. I mean, that is very trusting of them, its very easy to swap a logbook to save on tax, and you could get a right death trap on the road now the MOT is out the window for some too.

I was really shocked when they rolled tax exemption forward, I didn't think they would ever do that again, but they did, why I don't know, its not often you get a break is it.

The torys bought in free road tax to save the rich paying to tax their astons and e types etc, Labour and war mongering Tony Blair then stopped it rolling over each year giving the cap at 1973, the torys then started it rolling again.
