I don't believe the DVLA sold numbers that had history...what if the original number correct car rolled out of a barn ? and the owner had the old original log book ? I think there would be sewage


There's a perfectly good system in place, if the number is still available you "might" get it back, if not they'll give you an appropriate number and a new log book.

No one owns their registration.

someone is having as similar issue on facebook where he has restored a 68 car that was as some time restored/rebuilt .... with a 71 shell. it has not kept the original reg.

Had he any reg documents?

he had everything. restored it went to get it put in his name and BAM DVLA said not on that reg.

 

to be honest I don't think he gave the full info on FB, like why wait until after spending the money on a resto to get it in your name. I would have got it in my name first.

Agreed, it doesn't quite add up, probably more to it like you say. I can't turn it up on FB is it still live?

 

It begs the question why plaster it on there ?
