Hi all, just about to fit the new head to my MPI. Just wondering if I set the tappets as standard or are they different because of the Cam?

The Cam I fitted is a fast road MPI SW5-07

Thanks.

Standard for your rockers.

Nope, SW5 is 15 thou iirc., I run 18thou on mine due to 1.5 rockers too.

18 thou? Lifter tick? Not even once :P
Stock rockers = 12 thou, info got from swiftune when the sw5 first came out. They did increase it to 15 thou now, no-one knows why. Unless they spec their new cam for 1.5 rockers, then the 15 thou makes sense.

15/16 thou plus percentage difference for the rockers gives 18thou, same clearances for 276 with 1.5s

Swiftune told me to gap them as per the rocker type. So standard gaps.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am still running standard rockers. So the general response seems to be that settings them up as standard is the way to go?

Kent puts 16 thou on all their mini cams on stock rockers. I do wonder why. Always ran 16 thou on a 310scatter cam and 1.5 rockers, no problems

I am running a Piper BP255 (similar to SW5) and they state the clearance (assuming on stock rockers but not specified) as 12thou. FYI

Why not pick up the phone and discuss it with Swiftune, after all they are the best people to give you the right advice for their own product. An email even ?........

Emailed them before this thread. Just thought a few more opinions and past experiences might be worth getting too. Actually, mate.

Thanks everyone else for posting something useful.
