Had a few hours on the golf today but couldn't really get motivated.

Had a play with some seam sealer, brushed it on looked pants so of it came. I then masked up a test area then thinned some pu sealer and sprayed It, results below. Im not sure if it looks over the top.

Today I finished the drivers side rear arch.

First I sandblasted and scuffed the inner arch a little just to get It ready for epoxy primer.

Started the large task of seam sealing before another coat of epoxy primer. I'm still not entirely happy with this but I'm sure It will be well hidden after some stone gaurd.

Spent the last few days striping the entire Golf off paint. Good few hours here mostly done with paint stripper, DA sander and wire wheels.

I've found a few area's that need attention mainly dent's.

looking good chap, as for the shouting the council cant really do anything if you've been working on it in sociable hours. There's always someone who can be a dick on things, I had similar a few years ago and basically told the neighbour tough titties and I will carry on. they were new to our road and im born n bread so 40+ years on the road.

Always one mate, ignore and if you are working on it in social hours you will be fine. Unless you're not covered to work in the garage area if council owned if you know what I mean

I'm a private tenant not council, i get on and talk to most my Neighbours. I'm a reasonable person but would appreciate someone to come directly to me so we could come to a agreement. I'm not going to stop, It's not going to be forever and as far as i'm concerned everyone's entitled to a hobby.

Thanks for taking your time to read and comment.

Don't worry about the noise etc. You're working at sociable hours and I'm sure you're keeping the grinder etc to a minimum. Like you say, it's a hobby car abs you're not doing anything wrong. Sadly there's always people who have nothing in their lives and car enthusiasts are a very easy target...
Golf is looking great.

Thanks mate, Im going to start writing a diary so I have evidence to go back on. Someone's been working on there extension for the last month and i can here someone banging now as i type but hey It's not late and the kid's are not in bed so not a problem. I also try to do the noisy work on colder days as most people are indoors. Ill be making a bit of noise tomorrow but going to try keep it down for a few weeks.

You'll be fine. Most councils don't even have the resources to answer the phone efficiently, let alone give time to NIMBY's over a non-issue like someone working on their own car, in their own garage occasionally during the daytime!

Few bits done today, kept the noise down a bit which is only slowing me down.

Cut another hole in the passenger side jacking point. decided to replace both side's so It looks symmetrical.

0FBDGhNl.jpg

Cut some steel disc's to fill the hole's.

Kj6ukfPl.jpg

Welded, not the best welding I've ever done but not done any in a few weeks

j25g74Ml.jpg

Ground down both side's ready for the stumps to go back on. I'm tempted to rivet them as there a bit of a rust trap.

Driver's side.

1BKSjIfl.jpg

Passenger side.

nuHtv8ll.jpg

Managed to Knock the dent's out the quarter panel a bit with a slap file and dolly, just needs minor amount of filler now.

Pic before filler, already did a load of slap file and dolly work on Wednesday before my neighbors started.

8K3titDl.jpg

First skim of filler.

PdipZvtl.jpg

Block sanded that down which got me this, not to bad a few knockdowns and a few more skims needed.
