So I have the 1380 engine to go in the car but I have no idea which clutch it is? I have no slave cylinder on the outside and no clutch arm. Need to get all of that. Is there a way of telling if its a Verto or prior clutch without taking the wok off? I can see the starter motor gear for example, does that help? Its an A+ engine if that helps?

most likely to be vetro. but for 10 (or so bolts) why guess.

Its a blanked timing hole with thread plugs and the flywheel is a verto type

Looks like its a verto to me, but simple check, use a mirror and torch inside the starter motor aperture and look at the clutch type between the wok and flywheel.

Thanks for the answers I think its a fair point that for 10 bolts I might as well take a look. I’m also thinking of switching to the pre verto clutch with a mildly lightened flywheel. I want to drive on the roads so I won’t go crazy but a little bit off the weight of the flywheel i’m thinking will give a little bit of zip without any torque issues. It depends on how much it will cost to change all the parts if its worth it or not.

Actually reading back on the post I raised about lightened flywheels I may not bother and just leave this clutch until it needs changing.

take the lid off to check the clutch type but also to count teeth to find out which starter motor you need.

Yes, you can fit a lightened flywheel with verto - Minispares do one that I'm going to use in my 1275 build

Thanks I can go about getting the hydraulic parts etc that I need. I’ll take a look the lightened flywheels it makes sense to think about all that before putting the engine in obviously.

I agree just take the wok off and look. It'll only take a few minutes.
