Motor racing in the good old days...keep an eye on James Hunt and David Morgan at the end of the race.....

"Recorded from the TV on VHS many years ago "100 Greatest Sporting Moments". Fantastic F3 race from the old Crystal Palace circuit featuring a titanic battle between James Hunt, David Morgan, Mike Beuttler, Gerry Birrell and Tony Trimmer. The irrepressible Murray Walker provides the commentary."

Tony Trimmer - blimey that name brings back memories!
Tony was my instructor the very first time I went to the race school at Brands Hatch. They had a fleet of Fiat X 1/9s of all things! Must have been early - mid 80s.

Yes Hunt did hit the other driver!

Parts of the Crystal Palace race track are still there and used as footpaths within the Crystal Palace Park (see link below)........a small part of the track is also used for an annual Sprint race meeting, although sadly this years event has been cancelled. The London to Brighton Mini Run also starts from here and some of the Italian Job film was also filmed on the old circuit, including the 'blow the bloody doors off' scene in the race paddock.
