Hello all,

First post in a while, but I was wondering if anyone out there knew what connector type (and size) goes into the back of an MPI passenger compartment fuse box?

I would like to make use of one of the unused slots so that I can have all the fuses in one place, rather than have some inline fuse that I have to drag wiring out to replace. Would it be necessary to remove all the orange retaining tangs just to add one wire in, or just the one closest to where I'm going to add the new wire?

Thanks

Jacob

I would love to know this as well... add a fuse in a blank spot and make it look stock? That would be fantastic!

If I'm right - you should find that these are the correct connectors:

These are the same as used for the radio block, but larger.

It is explained here. I've ordered a few to see if they are actually right as I want to put my USB charger points and 12V cigarette lighter in there!

Was my suggestion in any way close to being correct? Didn't see that thread before, but they do look similar.

They do! I think the ones you put on are slightly different. Will see how I get on and get the info on the forum when I can.

Those 4.8mm ones from VWP do look very likely - they weren't available when I was looking.

I might have an odd one or two kicking around if you get desperate - I'd need to have a look.

Did we have any further progress on this? Might look to order me a few of the connections from VWP, if not; just see if they fit the block.

What is the gauge of thinwall I need, does anyone know? I figure 1mm 16.5amp rated would be fine for the central locking that I want to wire up (e.g. https://www.ebay.co....tm/321323738362), but I presume that the standard live wires (purple, brown etc) should actually be rated to at least 20amp given that's the largest fused supply, so would 2mm be more correct (e.g. https://www.ebay.co....tm/321326436914)?

Hi - did you manage to work this out in the end? Can't say I've had much luck from my side :-(

No, I took the power source from the sunroof feed which is already in the loom behind the dash. Saved me messing with the fuse box.

I'm currently in the middle of redoing a MPI fuse box and ordered these

Which fit perfectly
