Hi there,
Sorry of this has been asked and answered elsewhere. I am having problems with my Italian job mini. Within the last 12 months I have had a new alternator and a new battery.
Recently it has been touch and go if it starts or not.
When it does start, the engine runs like a dream, the electrical however, are a different matter.
The only thing that does work are the headlights. No rev counter, no wipers, no heater. Etc.
Do I need a more powerful alternator or could it be something else?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Ed

I'd say either the wires on the starter solenoid need a good clean and/or all the fuse box terminals need cleaning.

Hi Ed
Cleaning electrical connections is a straight forward easy enough job
Firstly, disconnect the positive side on your battery
Then work your way around the engine bay front to back, left to right, and look and clean connectors
Using emery cloth, a small file and small screwdriver, examine your connectors. Pay good attention to the wiring around the starter motor area, alternator area etc
It just takes time, electrical connectors are a Mini,s worse friend
