Has anyone ever used the complete sill assemblies from M Machine with inner and outer sills combined? Their panel code is 11/14.33.17.01
What was your verdict on them?
Thanks!

I recently bought a project that came with inner/outer sill section in one peice for just one side of the car....... I'm selling it!
I have restored a hell of allot of minis over the years, and i find that the positioning of the outer sill is critical to making sure the door step and the rear quarter all line up where they should be. to me it seems like madness to have the outer sill ready welded to the inner. to me its like building a house and putting the curtains up before you have decided where the window is going to go. if the positioning of that outer sill is just a few mm out for your particular shell, it could easily throw other things out. its not really saving you any time either having it ready welded on either, I just see it making it more difficult to get it to fit right.
that's my opinion anyway.

I have used the M-Machine sill sub-assemblies and I found them to be really excellent. They went onto my 1964 850 very easily and fitted perfectly. Welding was minimised (for me) and the finished result looks great.
I highly recommend them.

I agree with Cooperman.
I have used them a few times and the only thing I had to do was trim a little notch out of the back edge of the inner sill where it sits under the heel board and it was a few mm too tall.
The advantage of them in my mind is you get factory looking spot welds along the bottom edge of the outer sill, the jacking point is all welded in saving the trouble of aligning that correctly and with them being assembled, you can easily chase in the step tightly to it and I personally have had no issues using them.
It all comes down to personal preference really, I would say they save quite a bit of time, especially if you don't have access to a spot welder.
Here is a link to one I did a few years back. http://www.theminifo...d-garage/page-8

I agree that it does give a more factory look as the sill is spot welded on. but I would say if you were looking for that level of detail on a car you are restoring, you probably should have a spot welder anyway as I'm sure you would want the sill lip to look factory too. personally I find plug welding and then flashing the weld back down level looks just fine.
i'd say its all about personal preference and keeping in mind that all minis are different.
