I'm looking at doing something about the boot.  I want to clean it up a bit, and am curious what everyone's thoughts are on the matter.  Thoughts on the plastic boot liner? http://minispares.co...px|Back to shop or do I buy http://minispares.co...50.aspx|Back to or should I just take time and make my own?  Any thoughts and photos of what you have would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Also, what do you all do about your tools and oil, coolant, etc. that you carry in the boot?

My car had a hefty carpeted wooden panel kit in the boot and I couldn't wait to chuck it out. I personally like the boot fairly bare with just a bit of shaped carpet over the spare wheel and battery. It's easier to spot if and when any water is getting in, or if you have any fuel leaks.

I have a small bundles of tools and a tiny bottle jack that fit inside the spare wheel, then an old leather tool bag which I keep a bottles of oil and water in, along with a plastic can of petrol. That almost fills it! Luggage is for the back seats.

Same as rich above, I like to keep the space in mine, I have the window washer tank, a rubber mat over the spare tyre - a piece of newspaper under the spare tyre, just to soak up any minor water that may get in, a jack and basic tools with a small towel all in a thick bag - I would seriously warn against carrying gasoline in the boot - one small spark and ....

I once got free petrol carrying my wetsuit in the boot - I had it on a metal coat hanger, as I was driving it jiggled around and finally as these things will be, it shorted on the sender unit near the tank, the guage in the car went to and stayed at max - for a while I thought oh wow - this has to be the most economical mini ever - great disappointment once I removed my wetsuit.

Thanks for the input!  I will figure something out that is minimal in nature.  Both of your arguments make a lot of sense to me.  So thanks again for sharing your insight.

Decided to stop and take a quick picture sort of overlooking the valley.  I love the reflection in the dirty water. LOL!

It's a lovely car. I just realised you are in Utah. My sister lives in in Utah (I know it's a big place!!) close to Bear Lake. She's a Porsche addict but has recently been working on an MGB and is considering getting hold of a mini..... I'm still trying to persuade her that I can send her a nice one from the UK in exchange for a mint condition 67 Mustang or Perhaps a Chevelle SS!!

Yeah Bear Lake isn't too far.  I'm actually in Salt Lake City, so it's just a couple hours away.  I'd love to get my hands on a 911SC or a 930 one of these days, but the values seem to keep on rising.  So if she has any inside scoop on where I could pick one up....I'd love a '78 because that is the year I was born.  I originally brought this mini in as an investment so if she is interested.....for the right price I'd be willing to sell. ;)

We've flown in to Salt Lake a couple of times, so I won't have been too far from you at some point! She bought her old 911 from the Beverly Hills Car Club, who seem to have a massive stock and a lot of 'project' Porsches that are in a very sorry state. Anyway, best stop talking about these German machines before we get kicked off the forum!! I'll tell her about your mini and send her this link.

What's in the camo bag?  Tools?  And is that just some rubber flooring material?  I like the simplicity, I need to get me a 10" spare tire now.  For some reason my car arrived from Japan with a 12" spare.  O_O
