Hi there,

I think my key fob battery is on its way out. Is it just a simple replacement or do I have to program it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Daniel

Replace battery with a cr2032 battery. Go to car and try to start. If it wont turn off the immobilisor then press the lock button 4 times then press the unlock button and it should work

You have to reinitialise it by pressing 4 times on unlock slowly and then lock/unlock. (next to your car of course)
I just press all the buttons until something happens... 🙄
The same thing happens when you unplug the car battery, it's a sort of temporary mini alzheimer's. 😁

Does the same apply to programming a new one or does it have to be done using the Rover code reader tool?

When I programmed a new key fob for the first time it was a simple case of clicking the button four times.

You should have to programme the number of the fob in the car actually. Otherwise anyone could program a fob, to any car... 😐
You can get fob's with a programmer box, just return the box when done.

Yes, I should have added that my new fob had to be synchronised with the existing immobiliser unit first. If it is an original fob already linked to the immobiliser, i understand this step isn't needed.
