Looks a good project and love your way of choosing engines 
what about a 1.4/1.6 16v ecotec lump instead of the rather now common redtop and v-tec lumps?

Hmmm, with those big holes in the back you may as well just cut the back out and put the engine in there.

I wanted to RWD the van i got. Ever thought of a 4-AGE with old starlet rear axle? KP70 sytleeee.

How about fitting an engine out of a Clio 182? My other half wants this done to hers, so if you do it, it won't be such a headache when i get around to doing it, lol
