grabbed from the net - so not checked yet

some information to share

@Autoglass can't replacement rubber type windscreens any more due to no more trained technician for this type of windscreen
and phasing out replacement rubber type windscreens

None bond windscreens are been phased out all vehicle by Autoglass

1. Another reason give by Autoglass was windscreens have come one of their approved suppliers / manufacturer

2. Only 3% of their business is none bond windscreens so their are phasing it out

If you have got windscreen cover by your insurance company approved supplier Autoglass

check if they will allow another company to do it

I am emailing them to check

For the majority of people with standard windscreens and not the more expensive heated screens, the excess will be far more than the cost of a windscreen anyway, better off just buying a new windscreen for 40odd quid and fitting it yourself than paying the £75 or whatever it is for claiming a windscreen

This is sad news but thanks for posting it. It "may" enable people to save a few quid on insurance by negotiating a reduction for  not having windscreen cover. Worth a try anyway.

Interesting - Autoglass has a full stand at the Brooklands Mini Day on Sunday. I didn't investigate closely, but they seemed to be recruiting technicians. Perhaps they thought they'd find someone with experience of rubber fitted screens from amongst the gathered mini fans :)

Potentially! The local autoglass in Telford stopped doing them a while back. On asking why they said they couldn't gurarantee the work a set most old screens they remove, they find rot in the corners and can't fit the new screen.

That makes sense

I can see a customer commenting , on seeing the hidden rust , 'that wasn't there before you started'

Esp if it pulls off some filler , which could happen

there will be plenty of windscreen fitters around to do it

just one outfit starting to phase it out

& from what I gather , it depends on the manager / staff whether they will do it
