Does the 106 engine fit with the Bonnet shut? I have a Micra engine to go in my Minus, purely because it's the only conversion I've come across that lets the bonnet shut properly.
Post up lots of pics please!

Looking at the subframe and shell yes it’s going to be close,
If it doesn’t I’ll just sell the subframe/engine/ bike carbs
And choose a different engine
I do have a 16v bonnet which may give me little bit more room.
Still can’t find how to post pics
No file option that I can see

Hi and welcome.
Where did you get the shell?
Having a mk1 back end does not make it earlier. Its hard to distinguish a year comparing one shell to the next.
There are a few very early shells which had external door hinges 3-4 max.
Be interested to see your progress :).
If you haven't already joined, there is quite an active group on fb.

As soon as I can work out how to get the pictures on Ill post some
Progress.. hmmmmm
Ive been collecting parts but this year Ive decided I need to start it .
I bought the shell from down south , its new never been painted
Even the front inner wings and front end havent been bonded on , rear window opening needs trimming back
standard front windscreen fits but the rear is mk1
Small rear screen and quarter windows
Ive got really good standard doors which seems a shame to cut down to fit ( internal hinges )
Twin bolt front subframe fitting which is a pain as the allspeed subframe is the later single bolt type

Seen you have posted on the group.
Most of them are mk1 rear screen and quarters. You can cut it out larger, i wouldn't personally. mine had been previously though.
The shell was near me, the rollcage was bought off me by the last owner. I never used it and bought it modified of ebay.
Its easy enough to modify the shell to single bolt. Just drill through the centre and make up some spreader plates retaining the original crush tubes that are in the shell.

Got the other half to join the fb group 👍🏻
The shell has just been sat in my garage since I bought it whilst I gathered up bits for it.
Got a mk1 rear screen and quarter windows
Shell came with a mint set of doors which need modifying to fit
Cage is going to be extended ( front section and dash rail .. possibly tie into the subframe mounts )
Unsure what Im going to do with the front end
Bond the inner wings and front on or leave the front end removable

As for the crush tubes ... there is nothing in the bulkhead box section ( that I can see ) just the drill holes for the twin bolt setup
So Im either going to leave the subframe as it is ( single bolt ) and modify the shell or I have the tops off a twin bolt subframe which I can weld onto the allspeed one ( leave the shell as it is )
Either way Im going to be adding some spreader plates as the fibreglass just doesnt seem strong enough
