Hi,

"My name is Mike and I own a 1995 SPI Mini Cooper!"

I have been lurking for a while, there't lots of reading to do educating myself on the various topics available.

About 3 weeks so far.

1995 SPI been stored 18 years, body is good and has been repainted, with only few very minor bits needed to be sorted. ( Will need a boot lid in a few years)

A few mechanical challenges present / developing but nothing I can't handle at some point.

Thank you to whoever it was mentioning somewhere that mentioned the Coolant Temperature Sensor could be changed from underneath, very true and significant saving in time, effort and disturbed items when compared to removing the manifold from above.

Todays challenge "investigating" the lack of fuel gauge functionality, most likely the send unit people say, well I don't have a sender unit as such  just a 2" ball of rust, that might have been a sender unit in a much earlier life before the dinosaurs died out.

The inside of the tank(top 1/3) is also covered in about 4-5 mm of active surface rust. (3 hours with a combination of soda blasting and pressure washing, has got it back to being what I consider usable). What are people's view on tank selling preparations such as POR15 etc.

Enough for now as an introductory post.

Not based in West Sussex
