I've searched the forum and cannot seem to find anything that resembles my issue

There are times when I go to put wipers on intermittent and they will not go on, but if I put them on fast they come on. When this happens they will not park like they should.

However when they do work they work fine kind of.

The other issue I have is that they seem "sloppy" I don't know if this a mini issue but they wipe onto the body work ever so slightly and seem to be very slack when I see if there is any play in them.

Anyone got any clues to what it could be?

It sounds like a park switch issue with regards to the wipers not parking correctly. And as for the play then the boxes themselves could be worn or even the drive. Take them apart and inspect.

Sounds like you need to remove the wiper motor, spindles etc clean it all and re-assemble with new grease. The park switch is probably dirty/rusty on the connections so it either needs to be cleaned or a new one bought.

Along with all of the above, check all the electrical connections and the switch too for corrosion and / or other wise bad connections.

The carbon brushes could be worn, but +1 replace the park switch first.

I have just fixed this problem on my wife's Golf-it was the brushes.

Good luck
