The X plate Cooper sport with Three Thousand miles has abit of a suspect MOT history.

Nearside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Offside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Nearside Front wheel bearing has slight play (2.5.A.3c)
Offside Front wheel bearing has slight play (2.5.A.3c)

Nearside Steering rack gaiter split (2.2.D.2d)
Offside Steering rack gaiter split (2.2.D.2d)

They've smashed through a set of tyres in just a few thousand miles?

After a thorough inspection of course, because you know how it is with a Cooper S!

"Is this an S, or is this an 850 with S bits and VIN stuck on?"

There is some really good stuff there.

I particularly like the Merc 300SL, the Jag 340 and the BMW635CSi.

Totally agree and it's just round the corner from you, no excuse not to buy :proud:

I'm tempted to go along, but I don't trust myself not to bid for that Jag.

The problem is I have a 1964 850 undergoing a full restoration, I have some minor tidying up to do on my 'S' and I have an MGB-GT waiting in my lock-up for completion.

If I bought the Jag it would be a long while before I could make a start and I have no-where to dry store it. The suggested price looks very fair and the work needed not excessive. The biggest costs would be the interior trim and the new paint job. The Jag 340 was a beautiful and quick car in its day.

The Merc went for strong money at £16,312, the Jag was good value at £7,031 and the CSI didn't make it's reserve. You should have been there for the Jag :proud:

Did the 2000 model Cooper not make reserve I assume?  Do you know where bidding got to?

I like this bit: "Complete with distinctive and appropriate cherished registration number, X100 PER is offered with Swansea V5C, sundry invoices, car cover and current MoT.

PLEASE NOTE: This Lot does not come with a car cover."
Why not just delete the bit about the cover... 😂

The Jag certainly was good value and when fully restored back to its original glory it will be a superb car. Those Jags were always great cars and although I have driven quite a few, I have never owned one earlier than a 1972 XJ6. I borrowed a 1967 Jag 420 for a couple of weeks once and it was great to drive. I have also driven a few E-Types back in the '60's.

I reckon that Jag could be fully completed for around £6000 assuming the owner does most of the work himself. Then it would be superb and have a great value. If you think about it, that is less than half what you would pay for a mint Cooper 'S' of the same age. Makes you think, doesn't it.
