Hi. I am acquiring a write off for fire damage to the back of a mini. Was wondering if I could use the front to make a trailer but the wrong way round if you get what I mean. Searched Google but can't find a pic. Sure I've seen it before

Any help much appreciated

Jerry

you mean using the entire front end - subframe included - or grafting the front panel-wings-bonnet-bulkhead over the rear subframe assembly (..which would make more sense from a capacity perspective..) ?

Some one had one of these at Stanford hall last year, it looked odd to me to be honest but at least it's different

Front end would look better made into a BBQ!

Using front end as is. Making a base within subframe and just using tie rods to lock wheels was the idea. Rear subframe could be an option. Wanted something different and would make the headlights functional for camping etc

It's a common thing now thou. It's either a trailer or a wall mount with speakers

I think if you did it, it would be best with it facing backwards, mount some round taillights in the headlight holes.

as for keeping the front subframe in, it would make a very heavy trailer for a mini to pull, personally I would make a lightweight steel box section frame and mount proper indespension units under it, make a flat steel floor to fit inside it all too. much lighter and compact and you would maximise the internal space too.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to clad a rear frame with the outer panels of the front but the rear end is ready made and even has a lockable hatch!

That's the way I ment. Could build a frame but weight isn't really an issue

Weight is an issue if you want to tow it with a Mini and be able to carry anything in it. Sounds like a lot of work, lots of sharp edges that don't line up to make a neat closure. Has to be easier to start from scratch and incorporate a grp flip front.
