So hypothetically there is a kit car lets say a scamp registered as original donor mini. Am I right in thinking it will probably need to be sent for SVA to be correctly registered and will likely not pass very easily at all. There is so much misinformation out there I am completely baffled by any one done such a thing recently?

Depends on when it was built and or if DVLA was notified. Lots more info needed. Feel free to pm me

I had this issue with a Ferrari Dino 246 Replica, it was built in the early 90's and I bought it in 2005.  It was still registered as the donor Lancia Beta, I seem to recall that I was able to re-register without a Q plate as I had some old MOTS for it which has it listed as a Ferrari Replica so I could prove it was done a long time before.

It might be different now though.
