Hi people.
I have in inherited a 1995 mini shell along with a 1974 ish engine. ( engine code - 99H791)
Now my issue is buying the correct wiring loom. do I buy one for the era of the engine or the car? as the car would of been a mpi?
or do I fit as much as I can and take it somehwhere for a custom one? as you can tell I have no idea what to do and this is the part of the build scaring me the most.
any help will be greatly appreciated

You need a custom front end loom. Call autosparks

If you have the shell with no loom then use the engine year one, if its still wired then as Cal said above.

Depends how you are going to fit it out, centre Speedo? Tacho? Reverse lights, radio etc etc?

Are you sure it's an MPI? Could well be an SPI instead, what model does it state on the V5c?

Would it be an idea to fit everything and then contact autosparks as I don't know exactly what will be going in the car as yet

If your 23 I wouldnt worry about retirement too much. Probably wont live long enough to see it. Retirement age will be 105 by the time we get there

It depends on what you got with the shell and what you want to end up with. A bare shell is like a blank canvas, it can end up any way you want it from a sixties minimalest single clock to a fire breathing turbo with big sound system and electric everything fitted. You need to set out a plan for what you want to fit and than talk to someone about how to go about it. The '95 loom is a great loom to start with if you want many extras

Autosparks were really good when I rebuilt my pick up

They can customise it, too. I had relays incorporated for the lights.

Top firm, but Wired by Wilson is Ab Fab, too.

Have used wired by Wilson for a previous car, top bloke and also a TMF trader 😉
