Its a few years since I had an spi, but when mine broke down, it was to do with the in-line fuses at the bulkhead, especially the absolutely vital white wire - can't remember exactly what it was for now though!

If your coil is getting hot it means it has a 12volt supply at the coil which you have replaced so if you have no spark it would look like a problem with your leads , rotor or dizzy cap. Connect a lead to the coil with a lose spark plug on the other end . This will tell you if your problem is before or after the dizzy.
