Looks like it was probably a write off before the roof was chopped up, thankfully it appears no one was seriously injured.

I wonder how the driver is faring. The damage looks severe. This is the one constant fear I have driving the Mini in modern traffic.

It's not the traffic you need to watch, it's the parked houses!

 

The article indicates the two cars collided and only then did they hit the house. My guess is the majority of the damage and energy of the impact went into the initial collision.
