Hi all, does anyone have any experience of using these rear bump stops?

https://www.7ent.com...ear-for048.html

I'm running 7x13's, slightly lowered, KAD alloy rear arms and camber brackets. I like my set up but my tyres occasionally rub the arches on bumps.

cheers

What are the rest of your rear suspension components like? ie how old are your cones? Do you have the car stupidly low on hi-los? What arches do you have?

I've not used nor held them in my hands.

Looking at how they fit, I'd suggest they need a sandwich plate inside the boot, the flat & spring washers will only tear holes in the wheel arch eventually.

Have you considered fitting bump stops to your shocks?

This is a pretty basic type, but there's many other available

It's not stupidly low and has sportspack arches.

Are these available for a mini?

They are not Mini Specific, but used on lots of cars, typically as after market.

Take a visit to a Suspension Shop, they should have a few different types you can look at.

That sort of bump stops on the shock will only be an option if you have coilovers won't it?

All the shocks I've seen would need to be taken apart to fit something like that.

most will already have a rubber bump stop and you can get clip on nylon ones to add to it,

They are one's I've bought locally and fit and they go on any shocker

You do need to remove the useless, rattle,r stone trap dust shield on some shockers or as Nick's suggested, you can get clip on types.

They aren't exclusively used on coil overs, they can be used on any shocker. Here's a 'plain' shock and a different type of bump stop

Would it be possible to run coil over shocks without the springs to make use of the built in bump stops that are fitted to most coil overs?

all shocks have built in bump stops. have a look at yours and you will see it. then some thing like

https://www.ebay.co....m-/371689357738

or cut out some your self.

yes you can run coil over shocks without the spring but seems an expensive option when there is nothing wrong with your current ones that could not be fixed for a few pence.

They look an ACE idea Nick as long as they are rubber and not poly.

I've seen similar types, but not ones that are so simply adjustable like these.

the ones i were looking for were hard shims that you just added above the rubber on the shaft to move it down.

Just taken one of my rear Spax shocks off. No bump stops fitted and no way to disassemble and fit. Who makes an adjustable shock with fitted bump stops?

I tubbed the arches on my sportspack to stop them rubbing on large bumps, doesn't help that the sportspack arches sit so high up making the car look higher than it is. A lot more clearance now for suspension travel :)
