So I bought from eBay some reconditioned hubs, 8.4 vented discs, 4 pot calipers and new pads.

Got all the drums removed and all this lot fitted.... only to find my 12 super lite wheels catch the 4 pot calipers!

so, can I buy calipers that are slightly smaller but will still fit the discs I have?

Or...

Do I need to buy 7.5 discs, new calipers and pads?

Any advice would be great.
Cheers.

What calipers are they?

Does the caliper catch the wheel or just the stick on weights?

Are they Calipers for Vented Discs fitted up on Solid Discs?

The Drive Flange for is different between these and it spaces the wheel further out.

ive added some more photos to the original post.

the flange is quite narrow, but ive just noticed the wheels are now sticking out quite a lot more than they used to when previously on drums.

the disc and flange are approx. 3 1/4" in thickness.

Im beginning to think none vented discs (eh not as thick) and possibly a slightly smaller caliper design???

Oh and the wheels are 12x6.

well to make what you have to work you will need the drive flanges linked above which will put the wheel out a couple more mm.

solid discs and the metro 4 pots (same as you have now but without the spacer) will still be an inch wider that the drum set up so new arches will be needed.

also good to add the rear drums with the built in spacers to match.

would buying these bring them back in?

they would be the same as you have now. all discs add 1" a side the Metro Vents add 1" and a bit.

They are the correct Drive Flange - If they weren't, the disc would be well mashed in to the ball joints and steering arm.

It does indeed appear to be that those calipers don't fit inside your wheels

Changing the drive flanges won't fix the problem - it is the wheel design that is the issue.

Choices are:

- Different wheels with more clearance for the caliper and less offset to bring them back into the arch

- Go to 7.5" brakes - but the wheels will stick out as they are now.

- Spacers. But that will push the wheels even further out and is not a nice solution to any problem!

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Went and bought the MiniSpares 7.5 discs, calipers and pads yesterday, so at least now i can go down to 10" wheels if i want. Plus, for now the 12" wheels spin, even if they do still stick out a bit.

I'll probably swop to thinner wheels to bring them back in a bit too... so i'll be selling this lot soon if anyone is interested...

12x6 superlites with tyres.

8.4" vented discs and flanges.

4 pot calipers - think they are metro ones, will apparently fit 12" wheels, just not mine! :)

goodridge brake hoses (new)

pads (new).

Open to offers.

Pick up from Doncaster.

Anyone want more photos just let me know.
