So this happened tonight. It has happened twice before.

Ill be driving the mini and all of a sudden I start losing power and then the engine will go completely. So Ill find a safe spot to pull in, check, and for the 3rd time now, it will be a blown fuel fuse.

The first time this happened was around May 2016, and then again August 2016. And I was told by a friend that it could be the fuel filter, so i changed the fuel filter and I cant say if this helped because I only had the car on the road for another month or so before a year and a half rebuild. (Its now back on the road)

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Cheers.

As with any pump high current is caused by resistance to flow of the medium. I have a SPI cooper but havent had a change to properly educate myself on it, but some starting points :

Is it the correct rating fuse?

As previously said fuel filter blocked?

Check wiring check no shorts that could cause high current.

Faulty pump? Try a spare

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

I think it could be the pump because earlier today I remembered that sometimes the car will bog down when driving. Say Im doing 30mph in 3rd, foot in the same position, the mini will suddenly lose abit of power and struggle for a couple of seconds before regaining power. Its the same kind of resistance I start to feel when the fuse blows.

Think Ill give a new pump a shot. Theyre not too pricey anyways.
