Anyone Could Help With Sykes Pickavant Error Code

Best Answer jtammor , 08 May 2018 - 09:27 PM

Hi all,

Now, after all this time, I can proudly say that all my airbag issues are solved and my reader shows no error codes.

The problem was with the connectors of the rotary coupler, they had a poor union with the airbag. I checked all with a voltmeter and after that the ignition switch error went away.

I'd particulary want to thank FlyingScot that helped me so much.

Thank you guys, finally I could pass the MOT without worries.

Hi all,

I own a 98's mini MPi with this airbag error code (050D Ignition switch error).

I've almost already changed all airbag components (including rotary coupler) and I don't know where could be the problem, SRS warning light still goes on.

Would greatly appreciate your help and opinions...

Many thanks in advance.

Jorge

Which option are you using to read the code?

Hi,

Brand Rover, Airbag option and then 200(00')

As there's no option for Mini I always choose a rover model between 90's and 00's

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

just an update, I've also replaced the ignition switch. But the error continues. Has something similar happened to someone? I would not know what else to change from the SRS circuit. I'm thinking about starting to check the wiring

Try in the options MG then MGTF, I can’t remember exactly when but you need the menu which is for the Temic system.
I always start with the wiring especially the yellow cables along the floor as they can get crushed.
There is no Sykes Pickavant Code reader list as such.

Thanks again FS, I'll try with MG and then MGTF too.

The fact is that I did replace the wiring too, checking the electrical continuity of the spare cable. I doubt if there could be any kind of short between the fuse box and its connections.

SRS circuit has no interaction with normal wire installation right?

This is the list of SRS parts replaced:

ECU - Second hand in good conditions

Yellow Wiring - Second hand continuity checked

                               Rotary coupler - New one

                               Beatselt pretensors - Second hand

                               Ignition switch - New one

Airbag - old part never used

Obviously I've also checked and cleaned all the contacts

As you can see it's like a new SRS circuit  :gimme:

Did it work before ?
Then what happened?
Then you started changing parts?

Something seems amiss

Light is on since I buyed the car, two years ago.

Meantime I began to change every component, and two months ago purchase a code reader that gives me more help.

Hi Again!,

tried as you said (MG and than MGTF), same ignition switch error.

Next test will be trying to verify SRS ECU's ground.

Yellow wiring was the first thing I've changed and tested. Anyway, I think I should check the rest of the wiring(not yellow one, who knows if could affect)

Any comments would be appreciated... Thanks!

I would say that this error implies unstable voltage supply to the temic unit. There are capacitors in it to eliminate a loss of battery supply in a crash preventing firing but as far as I know this error is about unstable supply to the unit.

The driver cables are for firing the seat belt buckles and the airbag it’s self, this is more about the ECU.

Never hear about this temic Unit, where is located? I'd like to check its connections.

You told me before that could be a Pickavant menu for checking it, I don't see nothing related under airbag menu.

Thanks again FS

The temic unit is the airbag ECU (it’s the manufacturer of that version).

Ah, ok.

I could try to change the airbag ECU again, I have three different ECU's from other minis.

Thanks.
