Heat Shield On Exhaust Cracked

Best Answer Wiggy , 29 March 2018 - 03:06 PM

Minisport have one, apparently.

Although I still think the Jubilee clip method would work. Just done it on the wife's MR2. All the heat shield bolts had rusted/rattled away. Worked a treat. Go to the full post

Hi Guys,

I recently noticed that on one side of my heat sheild, it has cracked and come away slightly. This has caused a slight rattle about 3k rpm. Any ideas as to how I go about sorting this out.

Thanks,

Dan

1) weld it
2) replace it

Perhaps one if those custom length Jubilee clips to hold it snuggly together?

Ok the exhaust manifold? Not sure how youd get it round it. On the catalytic converters it would work.

I guess it depends on where and much its cracked.

Pictures would be useful.

I used THIS. The quality was crap, but they're stainless and I got them to work with some farting about.

Many people run LCBs without heat shields without any issues. Just be mindful of fuel pipes close by.
