I’ve decided to sell my Mini Race / Hillclimb shell.
The plan was to build a sprint and hillclimb car ready for 2018 . I’ve even entered the championship. However, I’ve just bought a spaceframe Mini and, seeing as I’ve wanted a silhouette ‘mini’ since I was 14 (a long time ago!) I’m going to put my efforts into building that instead. There’s nothing to stop the car going back on the road either!
I bought the shell in May 2017 and have the full V5 in my name.
The shell is a 1985 Mini Mayfair model and has had extensive work to it. If you’re looking for a rust free, ready to go race, rally, sprint, hillclimb, track classic mini shell that can be completed very quickly then look no further! The spec is as follows:
1985 round nose shell which was sand blasted to a bare shell and has had a full rebuild / fully restored and professionally painted – roof, inside, underneath and under bonnet in gun metal grey. Exterior is Mercedes white.
The fabrication and painting was carried out by DC Motorsport in West Wales.
New one-piece floor.
New seat crossmember.
New A Panels.
New bulkhead – easily modified for airbox.
New sills.
Latest spec Safety Devices Multipoint (19 points) bolt in cage (https://www.minispor...abs_description) . This is an FIA / MSA specification cage with double door bars, cross diagonal, roof diagonal, front subframe braces, harness bar (correct height) but not shown in the advert.
Weld in seat rails (with sliding captive nuts for adjustment).
Endaf Owens gear tower (new).
Endaf Owens engine steady and brace bar weld in bulkhead mounts (4 in total) with alloy brackets (new).
Tubbed rear arches.
Tabs for fuel and brake lines welded in.
Weld in bulkhead unions for fuel lines (feed and return).
Sill stand tubes welded in.
Strengthened subframe and rack mounts
All redundant holes blanked,
Brake bias valve (new) and bracket.
Carbon fibre boot floor (new)
Carbon fibre parcel shelf (new)
Carbon fibre bootlid (new) – needs trimming / fitting.
Carbon fibre Miglia arches (not fitted ) (new)
Choice of manual steering column or electric power steering column– straight and easy swap (5 bolts). EPAS column comes with ECU and new electronic controller (allows you to vary the ‘power’ of the power steering). The column will need positioning / some minor finishing depending on driver position / preference. A standard Mini column could still be used.
Reconditioned steering rack.
Suede 6 bolt wheel (new)and boss (new).
Custom header tank / bracket (new).
New 4mm polycarbonate windows and new rubbers/seals, including windscreen.
New door seals.
Curley 2 piece fibreglass Clubman front end (new – not fitted) – I prefer a Clubman!
Front subframe (strengthened) – needs painting / powder coating.
Pair of fibreglass doors one is as it was when it came out of the moulds and will need trimming and the two halves bonding together. The other has been partially trimmed and bonded together (not very well!).
Lightweight single wiper motor.
I also have available:
Pair of steel doors that have been ‘gutted’. The skins will need some small repairs or reskinning.
Odyssey PC680 Gel battery (new) and new bracket.
Extinguisher mount & Lifeline Zero 2000 2.25l extinguisher (new Nov 17)
Mirco RS1 wrap around FIA seat – in date until 2019 – I’ve had this since new – been used for 10 sprints – no accidents!
Front subframe (KJB Fabrications) to take a Honda VTEC (B Series) engine and box. This is a direct replacement for the stock mini subframe.
Alloy rear beam (subframe replacement) – new plus rear coilovers.
