It's been that long since I separated the block from the head I can't remember which of the new bolts go where. Looks like 5 long ones at the front but they don't do the studs at the rear. Any pointers of which go where would be much appreciated.cheers

The shorter ones all go down one side, 5 of the longer ones down the other side (thicker flange on gearbox) and the longest ones go through the hollow dowel(s) with a shaped stepped washer to lock it's head

There's one short bolt on the front up the water pump end, however that kit will be 2 short bolts short if you don't have the studs.

The long bolt goes through the hollow dowel at the flywheel end on the back.

That kinda annoys me off a bit. I collected them from minispares stating I want the studs too and I was told they are all bolts now, the bolts have replaced the 2 studs. I've dry fixed the bolck and gearbox together befor I start throwing sealant everywhere, just to test and so far I have fitted the row of 5 at the front (middle length bolts) and 5 at the back (short) ok, but i have 2 bolts left! The long one and the middle length one. to be honest the middle one is long enough for the hollow dowl. What goes either side of the 1/2 moon seal?

Hmmm,,,,

The length of the bolts that will fit there are the same as those used across the back of the gearbox.

I just buy my bolts in bulk rather than kits. Off hand, I think I use 1-1/4" length across the front and 1" across the back and either side of the 1/2 moon. I also use Spring and Plain Washers too.

I have to give you a big thanks for these pictures. I could not figure out for the life of me where I took those two studs out of and where the 1" bolt went. Must be a pre A plus things.

So Thanks thanks thanks
