"More than three quarters of investigations into car theft in England and Wales are unsolved and it is new high-tech keyless models being targeted, not older vehicles.

Over 78 per cent of cases end in the police failing to identify a suspect amid claims forces are so stretched they don't have time to properly investigate car theft.

In an interview with the Telegraph, the man in charge of crime prevention for the West Midlands force, Mark Silvester, encouraged people to buy steering wheel locks and Faraday bags to keep their key fobs inside to prevent thieves hacking into their vehicles."

There is such a thing as too much technology  Cant beat a hefty chuck of metal!

I used to use an Abloy 362 padlock and a 19mm Almax chain to secure my old bike up with, It was like carrying around another person on your back everytime i went out! but you would have more luck cutting through a lampost than breaking that off...

Holy moly that's some thick chain. As to the theft problem time to invest in a removable steering wheel, that what i do i don't even lock my car any more no point since it basically undrivable without the steering wheel

I used to work in a body shop at a main dealer back in the 80s/ 90s I remember seeing lots of cars coming in with the steering wheels cut in half to get the lock off .
