Just seen Smiffys bits are selling a thicker gauge bulkhead engine steady bracket .

The one on my mini needs replacing. Has anyone fitted one of these ones or is it overkill for a standard mini?

That's nearly £8 for a piece of bent steel and some holes. If you want a stronger one just make one yourself :)

That's exactly what we did, used a section of steel 4x4 fence post, cut and drilled to suit then welded up solid

Doesn't seem that much money to me . Half price of a heritage one.
It wouldn't be worth the hassle to me for that sort of money as I've no metal to make one out of and no template either.
So back to my original question has anyone fitted one yet?

No but I have fitted a DIY copy of the above, basically we used a standard thickness one for the shape and hole position, then welded in place with a couple small strengthener pieces to reduce flex.
