the issues you have are noise (yep finished a road rally with no exhaust just down pipes) and fumes in the car. (they can kill).

I have driven my mini 6 miles before(permission from police just incase) with the rear silencer not connected to the rest of the system. Was soo loud but not too smelly(fumes wise) however with yours being off at the cat I wouldn't recommend it, as if you get stopped by police you can get a stern warning ( possible fine) for the 'dangerous' condition
