So got a very old project which I got hold of many years ago so been sitting in a garage for nearly 7 , maybe 10 years now so decide to start it and finish it . I'm also over on the turbo forum with a thread there but thought id start one here too.

So its a 1985 mini Ritz well was ...wait till you see the pictures slightly different now. Some strange mods were done to the car which will come more apparent once you see some pictures and see some of my random threads ill be making in the future for help.

I have many parts in the garage and engine blocks so on so this could be enjoyable or a complete pain time will tell it is a mini after all.

Engine in it just now is a Turbo one which I will be stripping down and having a look at.

I am no mechanic but have a little bit of knowledge and have plenty of tools and equipment which should help me along my way.

So here are some pictures

Done a wee bit of work already and stripped out the engine, stripped the inside out the metro dash (?) strange one there pulled out the wiring loom due to it being butchered and was a metro wiring loom and stripped the engine bay and front subframe. And had a good look underneath which seems to be solid which is good start.

As youll see in the pictures below some strange things

1. We have a turbo box welded in but then have another one above that reason why I'm not sure but its all sealed and solid so leaving it as it is.

2. Brake pipes are the way they are I assume is because its got 4 pot calibers on from a metro with vented disc. I'm looking to get a conversion kit so one flexi pipe will come up through from the brake caliber and have the single pipe running round on the subframe and connect one the drivers side then up to the brake limiter valve. Make life a lot easier to maintain.

Just adding to what I had above.

Cleaned up ,reconditioned clutch and brake cyclinders.

Cleaned up hubs replaced bearings and seals but found that drivers side was scored on the inside not good so need a new one on order.

Refurbished calibers and installed new pistons bleed nipples and new flexi pipes.

As you can see aswell need a new pouter cv joint the thread has been stripped.

So had a few days off so got back into the garage to do some more work on the mini. This time was cleaning up the engine bay and get it ready for the subframe to get mounted again once its finished. The car will be re sprayed Tahiti blue so done the engine bay to get the subframe all in  then once the rear sub frame is done it will go for a full re spray.
