Hi all, new to mini restoration but have my first question.
When I bought my mini the previous owner had wired the wipers to a toggle switch.
The wiring looked real dodgy and I wanted to reinstate the wiper arm which I have done.
The wipers worked but didnt stop.
So I decided to replace the park switch.
The previous park switch was not attached to the wiper motor- the wires were attached just not the switch to the motor.
I put the wires into my switch and then attached it to the wiper motor.
Thinking I had done well I tried to start my car.
It wouldnt start .
I took the switch off of the wiper motor and the car starts.
My questions is:
Where the switch clips into the wiper motor should there be a plastic cover there ? Mine is all metal and I think the metal clip is shorting the circuit on the metal.
Do I need a whole new wiper motor ?
Thanks guys ;)

Update I got the wipers working again and they parked properly.
Put everything back on and they had stopped working and the black wire on the park switch loom was smoking
