Hi All - took mini out for a good decent first run at the weekend. Noticed the rear driver side indicator light sticks on solid, not flashing. The small green light on the instrument panel also sticks on solid.

All 4 bulbs work fine on hazards, so assume its the relay? I think I replaced the relay for an electronic one some years ago.

Actually the front bulb does not stay on - but it works ok when I use the hazards, so lead me to think it was the relay thats dead. I just tried it now and it works, so something a bit dodgy there.

Sounds like the front bulb isn't working.

If there's not enough load on these systems (with most flashers) they don't flash, only light up those lamps that do work,

MOT past due now, so need to get this looked at. I might leave it until May when mine is MoT exempt..! Lol! Need to get it fixed for actual on car usefulness.

Someone will put me right if I have this wrong but I thought you had to have a valid MOT in place before you can claim the new MOT exemption.

This.

Check the earth to the bulb holder affected. Give the contacts a clean.

There's no way only one bulb will stop flashing, one flasher unit means all on or all off.

If one's lit and another's off then the off bulb, or its wiring, is faulty. Have a close look at them all running on hazard and indicator for differences in brightness etc.

Update: replaced the indicator relay with electronic one and works fine. The old one still only lit the rear indicator solid orange and no flashing on front bulb.

New relay also "clicks" very loud...!

I think the relay click sound is perhaps the contacts in the electronic module? My hazard relay which has always been an electronic does this too, but I rarely use them. All working now though...
