Ah yes, their reputations precede them. Thanks both

As if to mock me for my oversight , the Facebook widget on guessworks reads “Back in stock - Central Oil Pickup Pipes”

I sometimes make them myself. Not much to them.

The one on the right is a genuine ST one and on the left, one that I make.

The current ones IMO arn't quite made right, you can see how the pipe doesn't stop as it does in the current ones, but extends as a 'half pipe' right in to the centre of the gearbox.

Regardless of what Pipe is used, it is very important to do regular oil changes when these are fitted as the strainer area is small and right on the bottom of the gearbox - with the mud, cow and sheep.

Could they have been shortened to make fitting slightly easier?

C-Aht54 designed and manufactured by Mini Spares - so I wonder why they are out of stock? :ohno:

I don't find them any easier or harder to fit, as the gauze strainer is about the same length. I suspect it comes down to how they are made. Despite my earlier criticism of the newer breed, they appear to work effectively.

Nice um, windage tray?  I can't think what the correct name for it is but it's nice.  Is it bought or homemade?
