I am interested to know what other, fellow 12" wheel owners are running as far as ride height is concerned. It would be great to see where others are at and if there is a sweet spot somewhere in the community. 

 

Taking the measurements front the lower sill lip line to the ground, just before it curves up to the front/rear wheel arch. 

 

Currently I am running:

 

Front: 8.75" (222.25mm)

Rear: 9.25" (234.95mm)

 

I am wondering if this is bit too low, especially in the rear. I have a bumpstop kit for the rear to eliminate the tires fouling on the arches but it is not totally uncommon for the rear of my car to go airborne if a large enough bump-pothole is hit...and there are plenty here in the USA. I will attached a decent profile pick as soon as I get the car on the ground.

I run 250mm from sill front and rear

I am running 220mm front and 240mm rear. New suspension so just trying it out to see how it is, seems ok.

What size wheels and tyres are you using because that has an effect on the ride height?

This a 12 wheel thread. I have stock rover alloys with Yokohama A539. Of course wheel width and tire size will effect things. Ill add tire to wheel arch gap as well

Well, I had a sec and went out to measure my car again...and it isnt what I posted. Guess it settled after a few thousand (or more) miles on my red spot cones.

Ride height, measured as before:

Front: 8.5
Rear: 8.75

Measure wheel gap (top of tire to top of wheel arch, carefully):

Front: 1.5
Rear: 1.75

Sure lower looks cool but I believe Ill be raising mine back to the initial numbers. A little more comfort...and not getting bounced in the air will be appreciated.

On mine I set the front driveshafts to be close to horizontal and then the rear to be 1/4" higher.

Thats a good way to go about it. I followed a similar idea with a mk2 Golf race car, only the issue was with the control arm. It was best to have it no more then level on flat ground. They actually make special extended balljoint that would help bring the arm back in line if you went really low. 

 

I am going to have to see what angle my driveshafts are currently.

No idea what the rise hight is on mine, but I had a lot of trouble with speed bumps (specfically one ripping my exhaust off!)

I set the rear slightly higher and it made clearance so much better. Does it affect the handling? No because we never drive these things to the limit and real roads. You can just about see it here.

Finally got to raising my car. It totally had settled. I set it to 9 in the front and 9.5 in the rear. It made a very noticeable improvement on the car. In the rear especially as I didnt bounce off the bump stops over a bump in the road that typically sends the rear slightly airbourne. Im going to remeaaure again once home to ensure its where I want it.
