Thanks Terry,

This is a complete 1380 engine build by SC, they provided the Delta ECU and complete fuel injection system as part of the build. Effectively, it should have been a 'fit and go - turn key' replacement.

It didnt include a lambda though. We replaced the original lambda with a new Bosch unit. Im realising now that fitting this to the manifold tube close to the exhaust port isnt best and should go down by the y-piece.

What would you recommend (if you can) re lambda to use?

Cheers,

Damian

SC supply a Wideband Bosch with a conversion connection on it with enough length of cable to reach the ECU.

Having the lambda sensor in the Y tube of an LCB may not be the best, but it will not prevent it running well. Even when placed in the collector monitoring all four cylinders, it is an average reading.

I would recommend getting the SC controller and wideband sensor as well. There are adjustments that will need to be made in SX Tune to accommodate this. The configuration of the Delta ECUs is different than the Typhoon, but it is covered on the SX Tune website.

Thanks everyone.

To run through a process of elimination we have put in new/decent Avonbar HT leads, a different coil, cleaned and reset the gap on the spark plugs and fitted a different distributor cap - the net result ... no change.

The current lambda is new and fitted as per SC instructions.

We have the SC supplied LCB. The machining isnt great on the faces that sit up against the cylinder head.  Following the advice on this thread we are fitting a different manifold gasket and machined the washers to get the best possible fit. We're also making sure as per the thread that we have no significant leaks.

I'm not convinced this will be enough but fingers crossed!

Any other suggestions gratefully received.

I'll update when we get it all tightened up and fired up.

May the Force be with us.

PS - Avonbar were great to deal with earlier this week.

This is such a disappointment, reading this. I really thought SC would be my saving grace when I finally give up trying to make the Rover stuff work.

Have you contacted SCS or specialist components? They're 2 separate companies now.

Sadly this is what puts me me off this kit. Several of our members have the MPi set up and it has cost a fortune in rolling road fees and they still have issues. (Cold start and minimal power gains).

I have it in mine and I have had no issues, cold start is fine just hold 1500 rpm for 10 seconds or fit a choke cable, power gains where fantastic

Just my two cents

+1, this.

Getting a mapper who well, know's the onions is the key. Mine was done in about 4 hours, worth it! Highly recommend efi parts.

Cold start wise, ideally mine should have been left for tweaking, but using SC standard cold start enrichment is ok, and as above, acting like a carb mini holding the throttle slightly  for a 20 seconds - just like a carb.

Mapping isn't just about wide open throttle power runs, thats the easy bit , its everything else where the skill of the operator comes into its own.

I'm running the larger tb, and pickup above 2k is simply..

I built the engine and installed the sc kit, then tried to get it going on a few base maps but no joy, took it to a rolling road tuner and within around 4 hours the car ran brilliantly

Just asking a question that’s all, not having a dig at anyone...........

Those who find the SC system ok, have you used any other system before or after, and what is it about the SC system that you prefer over others?......

The chap who tuned it said the software was basic compared to what he’s used to ( motec etc ) but there was no issues regarding tuning he just needed to get used to it

I thought the kit was great not wiring to do etc just a matter of fitting it, the fact it didn’t run for me was expected I was under no illusions that it would run straight away

Just a thought, have you tried to run it without the alternator on?? Mine missed and was caused by the new alternator that was fitted!!
