What is this clip for on the bulkhead underneath the carburettor (1965 Riley Elf)
The speedo cable is close to it but seems too short to fit into the clip.

Can't be for the fuel pipe as the engine has a mechanical pump and the pipe from the pump to the carb, would be better not clipped to the body.
Speedo cable seems too short to clip into this clip

They are for the speedo cable, the idea being so it doesn't melt with the exhaust heat

Ah that figures. I should have said my car is fitted with an '89 1275 Metro engine, hence the mechanical pump. Cable seems to short to fit into clip, assuming the clip is in the correct location! It is dead centre under the carb, the cable runs around 80mm to the right (radiator side) and seems to short to fit into the clip.

You might have a different speedo cable to the factory one then? There were a couple of different lengths available. If it's working it's not worth removing!

I have just found this image in one of my Mini books, which shows the speedo cable in the clip.
I suppose I should have checked there first!
