Hi guys, my MPI has GAZ coilovers from Huddersfield spares and its sat quite low. The only problem is that for it to be sat at this height my dampers are set so stiff that the car is bouncy as heck, especially with a passenger.
I was thinking about changing the springs out for some higher poundage ones. Does anyone know where I could get these and which brand would you recommend?

Thanks.

I think most on here would say change it back to cones and fit hi-lo's. You'll end up with a far more rewarding drive.

Red dot cones, proper Hi-lo's and new knuckles from Minispares.
Good dampers too...

ok first things first. the damper setting has zero effect on ride height unless you have too much which over comes the spring and causes the car to jack down.

with coils changing ride height is done by changing either the spring rate or spring length. and which you do depends on what you have now and what you want to do. note you will also need to consider the cars most used weight INCLUDING and passengers and goods. at any other weight the ride will be different. and note as the spring angle is wrong you will always have a falling rate spring which will cause the car to wallow in corners and have a harsh ride on the flat.

ok now that is said. get some rubber and HiLos fitted. a natural rising rate spring that can manage most different loads in the car without needing to be changed. and will give the car its GoKart handling back.

First things first, i said that my dampers were set stiff because I have them like that so that it doesnt catch the arches, didnt need a lesson but thanks anyway.

And it handles much better than it did with out-dated cones thanks.

Think Ill just ask another forum.
Cheers.

If your forum handle refers to the car in question, then I too would heed the advice to go back to cones. If you read the new regulations on MOT exemptions, then the coil overs are deemed to be a ‘substantial change’ and would mean an otherwise exempt car would need an MOT - you can ignore that if you wish and at your own risk. Not sure how many forums you will need to ask before you get the answer you seem to want.

If you read the OP's first post you'll see it's an MPI.
