Just had new panels and respray, where do i need to waxoyl to keep rust at bay?
ive heard under the scuttle, doors and sills, is it easy and what tools are needed?

also where are the points/nipples that need greasing and again how do i go about it?

thanks people, that should save me £50 at the garage.

Nipples:
Front, 3 each side. One on top balljoint, one on bottom balljoint, one on top arm.
Rear, 1 each side. Vehicle end of radius arm, outside.

Also grease suspeneion knuckle joints, they have no nipples and aren't designed for greasing so you can't replace all the grease without stripping them, but pumping some under the rubber if you can is better than nothing.

Also the handbrake cable guides (centre of rear subfram) and moving quadrants (under radius arms, grease the pivot and the cable track) and levers (on brake backplate, outside only, don't put chassis grease inside the brake drum at all)

You need a grease gun. You can get one at Halfords that will do the job but is harder to use that proper garage guns (don't buy the silly little black plastic push pump, it's not for this job). A flexible hose for it makes things easier.

You need good waterproof high melting point grease. I use Castrol LM (but will probably find out now that that's the wrong thing). With the nipples you clip the gun on and pump it through till dirty grease comes out of the part you're greasing somewhere. Make sure it's clipped on fully or it'll just spill out the nipple. With the knuckles lift the rubber, pump a little in and re-secure the rubber. Don't fill the rubber right up, it needs air space to cope with heating. It will wash some of the old grease and dirt out of the knuckle into the rubber eventually, when it heats up.
The handbrake parts just need some spread over the cable or moving parts.

Have plenty of rag to hand the first time you do this, it's messy till you learn how much to use. Big lumps of visible grease = too much. Wipe excess off and wipe dirty grease off if you can get to it.

I think you may be a girl, so I apologise for using the word nipples so often. :D
(if not I apologise for thinking you are a girl)

Put the waxoyl behind the rear valence, around the rear subframe, behind the a panels, bottom of the doors, behind front panel, around the air vents via under wings, sills via the the rear bins and put some in the bottom of the bins.

In fact put it everywhere you can think of but bear in mind it is a bit messy.

Can anyone else add to the list?

I had my inner floors done, then carpet fitted over the top. Its v.messy so i suggest if doing inner aswell as outter to strip the car.

I would do the wings around front end, indicator area's and arches as alot of water seems to spray in that area.

remove your door trims and do inside the doors with waxoyl as well but make sure you dont block the drain holes in the bottom of the frame .
its not a good idea to do under the carpets as it is flamable !
