What Size Bolt For This Nut?

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me What size / thread the nuts on the underside of the outer sills are - front abd back. I tried an M8 and its close but no cigar!

5/16 unf or could be unc I guess

Just fitted new slinging brackets to mine while replacing the sills, 3 are 5/16 unf and one I guess is wrong and is 3/8 unc. Happened to fit the 3/8 unc one 1st so just thought they were different front to rear, until I did the other side!

Thanks guys but just did a bit of googling and 5/16th is 7.9mm in metric and on mine an 8mm bolt can be pushed through with the slightest engagement, so I'm not sure they can be 5/16

As I said, one of mine is 3/8 unc which is around 10mm, so maybe yours are 3/8 unc

It's to do with the pitch. M8 and UNF are similar but either will destroy the thread if the other. This is from experience on my car time and time again.

But most nuts and bolts on a classic mini are NOT metric ..
