not had very much time to spend on the Mini

I have managed to seam seal the roof gutter, when I did this less really is more. I built the sealer up until it covered just the part I wanted to fill

Looking good this, and impressive how you're doing it under a temporary structure.

I love how this is still titled 'Driving Restoration'.......it's exactly what my intentions were.

"Lets just have the front wings replaced and a bit of paint tidying up"...….. One bare metal restoration later..... bloody mini's!!

Looking really good, clearly a big amount of work.  I'm only intending on doing the bare minimum to get mine back on the road but that still means a full front end.  I havent fully stripped it down yet either so I may also end up in the same place as you.

I feel like the car is finally coming together now, there seams to be a light at the end of the tunnel...

or is it that my eyes are just permanently damaged from all the welding? either way **** is getting done.

behold. Progress!

I started with removing the car from the front part of the Jig, followed by refitting the front subframe so I could bolt the front panel to it.

ClTdwUH.jpg

lAKo6HK.jpg

after that I was left with this

YdZoynW.jpg

I then fit the scuttle loosely and clamped the wings up using mole grips and self tapping screws

XQxFARm.jpg

CwwG86f.jpg

at first it seemed that even though I have got heritage panels the fit wasn't great

bM0rrUI.jpg

but with some little persuasion with MR HAMMER I got pretty good results

the bonnet gaps aren't great because I think the bonnet is a little twisted in places, but im hoping a can rectify this and just filler rod it when I do the door gaps.

and I did manage some welding swell

weld

thanks bud, long way to go yet.  Just looking forward to getting her painted I think. I started it a year ago this July, funny how fast time goes by with a project...

not sure if I got lucky, I was going to weld it all up yesterday because it seemed spot on. I have left it though until the weekend coming, I just really want to make sure im 100% happy

will be a nightmare if I weld then realise its not in the right place haha

Good work! Get some zinc rich primer underneath the scuttle too! Especially where you've welded! That's a prime area for them to start going.
