Good efforts mate! My rollover is still sat in the shed in bits. Could you do me a favour and messure the hight of the roof when its the right way up on the jig. Im not convinced mine will clear in the current garage ‍♂

6foot 4" bud

had a delivery this afternoon, the contents of said package will help with this weekends job..... stripping the whole underneath of the car and priming !

the note left on the box leads me to believe that some how, they know I require the extra warning haha

beautiful weather today in the Lake District.... and I spent it in the 'green house' I mean... tent. ( HOT would be an understatement )

but before I head out to the beer garden, here's an update

rust before treatment (various wire wheels and flap discs oh and acid. don't forget the acid)

kmyYHrx.jpg

DgNZhz8.jpg

wire wheels got me to this

bsPa77T.jpg

KAnpxbe.jpg

then started the seam welding

ended up with this after all the welds were ground down

finished off with applying some acid

cutting out the final bits of rust

Jm5VVqg.jpg

weld

crftpaC.jpg

grind

scJGQKl.jpg

rust cut out and new dash rail fitted

MP0n1lI.jpg

then I started closing up the gap between the bulkhead and the dash rail

k6Duk0q.jpg

then I made a start cleaning up the lower Inside bulkhead

c6Sh7LC.jpg

wire wheel

0lYQ7U9.jpg

acid

nQKM3O2.jpg

I did also manage go make a start stripping the front subframe ready for powder coating

on a side note the engine has come back from having the machine work done, I will get some pictures up when I can

so far its needed -

rebore (new pistons and rings)

block and head skimmed

crank re grind

gearbox rebuilt with straight cut gears

new exhaust valves / valve guides

new clutch

not to bad for a 98000 mile engine lol

Good job we don't realise the amount of work required when we start these projects - you'll soon have a finished body, then you'll have to start restoring everything to go back on it!

wire wheel

hHVn40n.jpg

paint ( haven't spent time cleaning welds up as they won't be seen ) sound proofing and seam sealer will sort it no problem haha

also brought this mess in to the house for a tidy up over tomorrow and evenings this week

advise required please chaps....

Saturday and Sunday I will be attempting to weld the front end on to the car. ( scuttle, wings front panel )

any suggestions on how too?

I have got as far as refitting the front subframe, mounting the front panel to it and working from that with bonnet wings and scuttle ?

made a start prepping the front end ready for the new panels.....

prep for welding

xrkaLW2.jpg

added some weld through primer

Z4qlqqR.jpg

17CRVJu.jpg

then I cut out the replacement patch

z7XiQKh.jpg

few spot welds and seam welding, while I was hammering the steel into shape as I went

t4vqzbe.jpg

joqbyjg.jpg

all welded and ground back ( for the most part )

ApCEaPf.jpg

primed

PagXxEv.jpg

I did cheat a little with this repair as I did a lap joint... the overlap is only by a couple of MM

but on the inside a ground back the excess metal sheet then seam welded on the inside
