I've never done it but if it's that regimented and restrictive nor am I likely to !

Surely once one has signed their life away (hopefully not literally) insurances are in place and they circuit owners have covered their ass then one gets on and does what one came to do, ie sample what we all like to watch as spectators.

Going back a while when I had a track car, I used to turn up at Javelin Trackdays late morning or midday for an afternoon of testing and they'd let me pay around half the fee (usually around £50 in cash) with a quick briefing of the rules. I found that easier and cheaper than turning up at the crack of dawn and sitting around for hours waiting to get on the track. They usually run til at least 4pm so I always found that gave plenty of time, and most people have broken their cars by then so the afternoon is quieter.

 

Elvington and Blyton airfields were the handy ones for me.

 

Now? Quiet B roads at quiet times of the day!

The Castle Combe Mini action day is a good option, last time I went it cost £30 per track session.

I really enjoy track days, and if your sensible enough they do let you play. At the end of the day nobody wants to crash there cars into anybody else do they.

Trackdays are great fun. I wouldn't say there no good until you've done one.
